This course is designed for DJs who already have a grasp of the basics and want to take their skills to the next level. You are expected to be familiar with the basics of Rekordbox and Pioneer mixers. In this course, we will focus on both technique and theory to help you build a solid musical foundation.s
Together, we will explore your personal DJ style and identity. You’ll discover your strengths, and we’ll define the logical next steps for developing your career and getting more gigs. Furthermore, the course will also cover the history of DJing and essential music theory. Finally, you’ll learn how to craft sets with a compelling narrative. Selecting and mixing tracks in a way that tells a story and takes your audience on a journey.
Homework will focus on active listening: exploring both classic tracks and contemporary releases, so that by the end of the course, you will have a strong and versatile music base. Coco Coquelicot will guide you through a wide range of genres and demonstrate different DJ techniques.
Required: Bring your own well-functioning laptop to this course! An iPad or a Chromebook isn’t sufficient for this course.
This course is offered in English. This course starts on Wednesday 14 January 2026 at 19.00 and will be 5 weeks in a row on the same day and time. The course will take place in the Media Studio in Usva.
