The KEIxUsva band contest is back, and better than ever! This year we’ve again selected four very different but equally amazing bands to compete for the one true prize: a chance to perform in the KEI-week! Although our finalists are equally matched, there can only be one winner. This decision surely will prove to be a tough task for our jury. Please join us this year again at Simplon (Boterdiep 69) to enjoy an evening filled with great music, laughter and of course… to find out what the jury’s verdict will be! LINE UP: BLOOM BLOOM is there for you and all your cravings for new Dutch-language indie pop, with a touch of poetry and kleinkunst. Armed with two guitars, a bass guitar, drums and Madelief's vocal chords, this band from Northern Netherlands will bleed your heart with songs about tomorrow's worries and stupid side jobs. |

Moira
Moira is an upcoming multicultural power rock trio from Groningen. Its sound is characterized by a fusion of cultural, musical, and linguistic influences stemming from each member’s roots. Moira captivates its audiences with a live-oriented approach to songwriting, resulting in energetic performances that cannot be experienced digitally.
Happenstance
Happenstance is an alternative/ indie rock band from Drenthe and Groningen. Bassist Arsenij, drummer Oscar and singer and guitarist Marin found each other at the University of Groningen. The band started as Marin’s solo project, with which he reached the national stage for both Popsport and Kunstbende. The music is mainly inspired by bands such as Radiohead, Nothing But Thieves, Muse and Jack Stauber. Through unconventional rhythms, such as bossa nova and swing, and unique melodies, it sounds like a very coherent whole. The lyrics explore themes from existentialism to hedonism to love.
Pocket Fish
Formed in late 2023, Pocket Fish is a five piece international music project based in Groningen. They aim to harvest those smooth grooves of the past and the chilled-out vibes of the present, perfect for contemplating the origin of the universe or just deciding what to eat for dinner. The members of Pocket Fish vary across five countries, seven musical instruments and nine different aquatic species. Remarkable for their compact size, they explore the pockets of R&B and funk. The band is an open supporter of mayo as the best dressing for french fries. Pocket Fish is not a purchasable item.
